Final Tree Observation 2018
I observed Honey locust tree which I named it as the Majestic tree. It is situated near the Spaulding Gym at Keene State College. I started observing it from early this semester and posted my first tree observation on my blog on January 30, 2018. Since then, I expected to see many changes in the tree.
As we discussed in class about different changing phases of trees like getting buds and then leaves along with the change in seasons, I expected to see those changes in my tree too. But any of my expectations have not met even at the end of this semester. It has already been more than three months but I have not seen any major change in the tree. Some of the other trees on campus have already changed over the time. They got their buds and some trees even got tiny leaves on them. But my tree is still dry and dead.

While observing the tree, I was very excited to see the changes as I never did tree observation before. When the winter ended, and the spring started, I was hoping to see tiny buds and then leaves in my tree. But I did not see any change till now. Its branches are still dry, and the trunk is arid. There are fewer lichens on its trunk and branches but not many as compared to some other trees on campus. There is no single sign of buds even in the Spring. However, I saw changes in the yard where the tree is situated. The snow-covered yard has changed into a green grass filed with the change in season. Snow has melted, and with some rainfall, the lifeless land has turned into a green garden. Still, my tree has remained the same. I hope the summer will bring life to my tree and I expect to see buds, leaves, and lichens in it.
Here, I have shown three different phases of my tree that I observed this semester and compared them through photos.
