The Fight for Environmental Justice In New Hampshire.

Speaker: Mindi Messmer, P.G, CG New Hampshire House of Representative, Rockingham 24 Rye and New Castle.
Mindi Messmer came to Keene State College on Monday, Feb 26, 2018, to give a talk on one of the major environmental degradations in New Hampshire. It was about the contamination of drinking water and surface water by the Coakley Superfund Dump. The chemical called perfluorooctanoic sulfonate (PFOS) from the dumping site is contaminating water which has caused 2 different kinds of cancer in children and it is a major threat to human life. According to Messmer, New Hampshire currently has the highest rate of breast cancer in the country along with higher rates of brain cancer as well.
The most interesting thing about the talk was her concern and activism towards this environmental problem. She is highly involved in activism to clean up the Coakley Superfund Dump in NH. She is actively spreading awareness to people through social media, lectures, and through public participation.
The talk by Mindi Messmer was very informative for someone like me who is a new resident of New Hampshire. Her presentation was very informative and clear. There were not any confusing parts in her talk. However, I was amazed to find out that the U.S. (being one of the most developed countries in the world) has water contamination problems.
